Math 6 – Daily Assignments March 16th to Present

Good Morning Math 6!!!

Congratulations, you have made it through 6th grade!  I apologize for this post being delayed this morning.  It has been a very odd year, to say the least, and it is made saying goodbye to all of you even more difficult. My wish for you is a healthy summer and that I will see you again in August.  Just because you are upper-classmen does not mean you cannot stop by and visit!  Thank you for making my first year (or almost first year) at Pine Mountain Middle School memorable.  Take Care,  CM

P.S. Grades will be finalized by Saturday at midnight.

REMEMBER TO ORDER THE NUMBERS IN THE DATA SET SMALLEST TO LARGEST BEFORE WORKING WITH THEM.

Mean:  add up all numbers and divide by the number of entries

Median:  the number in the middle, if there are two, find mean of the two numbers

Mode:  the number that appears most often in a data set, there may not be one or there can be more than one

Range:  the number of units between the largest number and the smallest number.

****One more time, when working with groups of numbers, rewrite them in order least to greatest first.  This makes analyzing the numbers much easier.  Statistics is about looking at the numbers and being able to make an inference about the data.  Remember you are not solving any problems right now, you are learning to put the data order and to create different charts that will allow the data to make sense.****

Math NEWS!!!

Your students now have access to another awesome math skills resource.  We used some of our class time this week to introduce them to Dreambox.  Your students have been provided usernames and passwords and are aware of how to get to the site.  Dreambox is a leveled system that can move your students up when they have master a basic math skill. There is no cost to use the program and we are asking that students work for at least one hour per week on their math using Dreambox.  The link to the site is below:
